An AR-15 is a type of rifle that was first designed by ArmaLite in the 1950s. AR is an abbreviation for ArmaLite Rifle. It does not stand for “Assault Rifle” as many claim. It is a semi-automatic rifle, which means that it fires one round with each pull of the trigger, but does not automatically reload and fire another round.

The AR-15 has a modular design and is highly customizable, with a wide range of accessories and modifications available to enhance its performance or appearance. It is important to recognize that none of these accessories or modifications will turn a semi automatic AR -15 into a fully automatic machinegun.

The AR-15 has become a popular firearm for a variety of uses, including hunting, target shooting, and home defense. It is also commonly used by law enforcement and military personnel. However, it has also been the subject of controversy due to its association with mass shootings, particularly in the United States.

In the state of Tennessee, any person 18 year’s of age or older may purchase an AR-15. All that is required is to fill out the appropriate ATF form 4473 and complete a required background check.
